IT Director

Overview:
Director will manage and direct IT department staff and resources and provide day-to-day management of IT operations including global information systems, processes and services.  This includes leading global networking team responsible for acquiring, installing, maintaining and supporting Jhpiego’s local and wide-area networks and leading application systems team, concentrating on overall systems design, architecture, integration and development methodology.  Director will also implement appropriate knowledge and information systems, processes and services for Jhpiego programs and projects.
Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with CIO to align IT objectives and programs to enterprise objectives and strategies, update and implement IT strategy
  • Collaborate with the CIO to develop and manage the IT department budget and expenditures
  • Optimize costs of services through a mix of internal and external resources
  • Direct Helpdesk Operations and Network Support
  • Monitor and update documentation of information systems, policies and procedures 
  • Ensures continuous delivery of IT services through oversight of service level agreements with end users and monitoring of IT systems performance
  • Review hardware and software acquisition and maintenance contracts
  • Keep current with trends and issues in the IT industry, including current technologies and prices.  Advise, counsel, and educate ISTS and the CIO on their competitive and financial impact
  • Promote and oversee strategic relationships between internal IT resources and external entities, including vendors and partner organizations
  • Provide presentations and written reports internally and externally as required
  • Supervise recruitment, development, retention and organization of all IT support staff in accordance with corporate budgetary objectives and personnel policies
  • Foster participation in community and professional events
  • Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems, including servers, PCs, operating systems, telephones, software applications, and peripherals
  • Provide expertise and support during systems upgrades, installations, conversions and file maintenance
  • Oversee systems development and enhancement and the integration of new systems with existing systems
  • Develop and implement all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision
  • Manage servers, security solutions, network hardware and equipment
  • Manage telecommunications infrastructure and development plans, projects, policies and procedures
Required Qualifications:
  • 10+ years experience in the Information Technology arena, with progressive areas of responsibility
  • 3+ years strategic and management experience
  • Demonstrated experience in systems planning, project management, change management and problem resolution
  • Knowledge of telecommunications technologies and direction
  • Experience with an international organization with multiple locations world-wide
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate thinking into workable strategies
  • Strong customer service focus
  • Ability to translate and communicate complex information technology concepts to end users
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and lead a productive, high performing team
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 15% of time
