Main purpose of job

To act as the NDA interface with the major programmes and projects at Sellafield providing the necessary assurance on the delivery of the required outcomes and benefits.

Position in organisation

Reports to the lead programme manager for major programmes and projects and a member of the NDA Sellafield site facing team.

Scope of job

  • Define programme and project performance objectives that deliver in year performance ensuring linkage to the overall delivery of programme outcomes and benefits.
  • Provide NDA oversight and assurance for a high hazard programme and associated projects at Sellafield with an approximate £100+M annual spend and associated lifetime costs of ++£B.
  • Develop a programme management culture within the programme that supports the drive towards hazard reduction and supporting value for money (VfM)
  • Plan, manage and implement the overall assurance programmes ensuring that the overall "programme health" is established and the impact on outcomes and benefits is understood with associated mitigation plans developed and implemented.
  • Manage key internal and external stakeholder interactions to maintain organisational alignment to ensure delivery of overall programme benefits and outcomes.

Qualifications, experience and skills

Qualifications
  • Educated to degree standard with a formal qualification or designation in project management  
Experience
  • Design and development of programme management approach for multi-disciplinary programmes. 
  • Project management of medium to large projects.
  • Familiarity with commercial and contractual requirements for large projects within UK nuclear industry.  
Skills/Knowledge
  • To be able to lead and manage multidisciplinary programmes and projects to improve business performance.
  • To analyse and understand programme and project performance and developing associated intervention plans.
  • An ability to view problems from a holistic perspective taking account of both programme specifics and non-direct influences.
  • Knowledge of development in programmes and project management.
  • Proven capability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders in order to support overall programme delivery.

Duties and key responsibilities

  • NDA Ownership and development of Programme level business case for programme area.
  • NDA Ownership and development of supporting project level business cases.
  • Reviewing health of programme and projects and defining intervention plans.
  • Defining in-year and multi-year incentivisation targets.
  • Ensuring programme provides defined outputs and benefits.
Staff will manage:
Own performance and self development.
Health and wellbeing.
Own workload, including time and deadline management.
In addition, they will undertake other activities and work commensurate with their skills and experience as and when required.
Staff will be expected to support and implement corporate decisions and initiatives as instructed by their line manager.
