CONTEXT

The Asian Institute of Technology (www.ait.asia), an intergovernmental and international institute, promotes technological change and sustainable development in the Asian-Pacific region through higher education, research and outreach. Established in Bangkok in 1959, AIT has become a leading regional postgraduate institution and is actively working with public and private sector partners throughout the region and with some of the top universities in the world.

The AIT has begun an EU-financed project entitled: “Sustaining and Enhancing the Momentum for Innovation and Learning around the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) in the Lower Mekong River Basin”. The main objective of the project is to contribute to enhance resilience of rainfed small-scale farmers of Lower Mekong region confronting climate change. The project will be implemented in Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

Under the overall guidance of the project Team Leader and the supervision of the Regional Project Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for establishing the media and publication unit in order to create visibility of the project work in the region through regular updates on internet and print media. In particular, the incumbent will responsible for:

• Developing and maintaining project website;
• Developing content and media editing and updates for webpage and publishing e-newsletter, assisting with design and graphic needs of the project and public relations;
• Taking lead in developing a data-base and data retrieval system for project’s experiments in consultation with the national focal points of the project in Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand, and ensuring data-entry and retrieval systems as per need of the Team Leader and PCU coordinator; 
• Supporting the implementation and visibility action, liasioning and communicating with national and regional media;
• Providing strategic advice on knowledge sharing and communications to the Project Management Unit of Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Thailand and partner organization;
• Ensuring regular sharing of experiences across projects; facilitating seamless sharing of ideas, knowledge, and experiences among project staff and partners;
• Ensuring the smooth functioning of all hardware and software and other electronic gadgets at Project Coordination Unit (PCU) used by its members;
• Undertaking other activities as requested by Team Leader.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Advanced degree in information technology, knowledge management, or communication science;
• Minimum 4-5 years of progressive experience in the areas of knowledge management and/or data-base management, preferably within a knowledge-based organization with a mandate similar to the project
• Experience in developing data base, web page, system maintenance and knowledge sharing with and for different stakeholders and partner organizations
• Working experience in Southeast Asian region is desirable
• Working knowledge in oral and written English


SELECTION CRITERIA
• Extent and relevance of experience in media, communication and knowledge management
• Demonstrated ability in data-base and data retrieval system management
• Extent and relevance of experience in building partnerships for learning and knowledge sharing;
• Extent and relevance of experiences in ability to collaborate and establish productive and professional relationships among peers and staffs;
• Extent and relevance of experience in participating in multidisciplinary working team and working experience in multicultural environment.
