Mine Accountant AngloGold Ashanti (AGA)

AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) is the world's third largest gold producer with 20 operations in 10 countries on four continents.   AGA employs over 62,000 people globally.  In Australia, AGA operates the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine and is developing the Tropicana Gold Mine in which it has a 70% interest and is manager.  Independence Group NL holds the remaining 30%.  The Sunrise Dam and Tropicana operations are both situated in WA.

Tropicana represents the most significant Australian gold discovery of the last decade.  The new, large scale open pit gold mining operation will produce 3.45 million ounces over a 10 year mine life (approved project).  Construction began in 2011 and first gold is anticipated in the December quarter of 2013.

We are now seeking an experienced Mine Accountant to join our Business Support & Services team at the Tropicana Gold Mine. This role is based on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth or Kalgoorlie

The main tasks of the role include but are not limited to:

• Establish and improve mine accounting processes, systems and reporting.
• Maintain the Tropicana Joint Venture general ledger, asset register and accounts receivable.
• Prepare Joint Venture reports and cash calls based on supplied expenditure forecasts.
• Provide project accounting support to the Tropicana Gold Project construction team.
• Provide accounts and records management support to TGM departments so that R&D claims are substantiated.
• Maintain an asset register of TJV vehicles and mobile equipment. Complete registration and insurance renewals for vehicles
• Meet external and statutory reporting requirements including diesel fuel rebate, royalty returns, ABS surveys, industry levies and Mining Act requirements.
• Coordinate and provide training in SOX, internal and external audit requirements.
• Provide end user support in SAP, so that employees can effectively utilise SAP functionality.
• Provide end user support in Business Warehouse.
• Provide accounting support to the Business Analyst.

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Commerce Degree and relevant experience.
• Accounting practices, processes and compliance requirements.
• Preparation of reports including actual, accrual and commitment reporting, and cost analysis.
• Accounting systems and MSOffice software.
• Good communication and leadership skills.
• Experience in safety, health and environmental management in the workplace.

Desired skills and knowledge:

• CPA or CA qualification.
• SAP ERP system.
• Business Warehouse.
• Unincorporated Joint Venture accounting.
• Working knowledge of the gold mining industry.
