PREMIER FIELD ENGINEER - System Center Operations Manager (SCOM)

Premier Field Engineering is looking for a technical & passionate PFE to help our customers with the latest generation of System Center OpsMgr (SCOM).
Do you love to solve problems and help improve the quality of Microsoft’s products? If so, this is a great opportunity for you. You will be working with customers and partners building, deploying, operating and optimizing large enterprise IT environments.
We are looking for a PFE with experience in technical design, driving projects, managing and building new relationships with internal and external customers and partners, and great team spirit. This person must be able to drive support consulting engagements, write technical and non-technical communications, and work effectively with our partners and customers to help make them successful in their SCOM activities.
Candidates are expected to work effectively in cross-group situations and be able to drive towards integration-oriented solutions to provide Microsoft customers with reliable technical solutions to the complex integration problems associated with business solutions built on the Microsoft platform. The PFE Team supports a diverse variety of technical solutions built with Microsoft technology and products. Candidates are expected to bring superior knowledge and demonstrated technical proficiency in System Center Operations Manager with experience in managing medium to large environments. Candidates should be able to explain all aspects of SCOM effectively and understand the product configuration, flow and logging in detail. Candidates should understand fully the base OS and SCOM Management Packs and be able to discuss in detail at least one of the following Management Packs: Active Directory, Exchange, IIS or SQL including configuration, tuning and customization. In addition, experience in other Microsoft Management technologies, including Active Directory (AD), System Center Configuration Manager and WSUS is desired.
Secondary expertise in at least one of the following: Windows server Operating Systems, clustering, scripting e.g. VB or PowerShell, SQL- both management and querying, WMI and IIS. Knowledge of the following would be advantageous: SCOM Solution Accelerators, SNMP, SCOM Connectors and the SCOM Connector Framework, and the model based architecture in SCOM 2007.
Strong business background in Fortune 500 and/or experience with consulting firms is desired. Overnight travel is required. This position is intended to be on-site working with one customer but due to changing needs and customer locations may require up to 25% availability to travel.
BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience required. MCITP, MCSE, or other applicable advanced certification is strongly preferred, but not required at hire. We will consider related field (or equivalent) experience.
