JOB SUMMARY:
 
As a member of the New York based LAC program management team, the Program Manager (PM) pro-actively coordinates the LAC program support activities. S/he facilitates the provision of required and requested technical support to the Regional and Country program.  S/he coordinates monitors and supports all partnership related activities in the assigned country programs. The Program Manager serves as the main information resource for the LAC regional activities and programs; s/he will act as the main hub for all communication to and from the field, ensuring that all critical information reaches all concerned parties at all times. The Program manager collaborates with IT and M&E to input relevant program in the Intranet and IPDMS.
 
REPORTING & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
 
The Program Manager reports directly to Director of LAC Program, and works in close coordination with NY Finance and Development and Program departments and with other country program colleagues. S/he supports the LAC programs by facilitating NY headquarters management oversight.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
 
          Develop deep understanding of ORBIS’ global and regional program strategies and maintain up-to-date knowledge about the country programs in order to act as ORBIS LAC’s key information and knowledge resource.
          In collaboration with the Director of LAC  develop and review LAC work plans, budgets and program and financial reports; and participate in the  preparation of monitoring and evaluation arrangements
          With guidance from the Director for LAC, provide  guidance to partners to plan and implement  their programs in an effective and efficient manner
          Mobilize timely HQ support and responses to facilitate the partners’ programmatic  and operational needs
           Facilitate LAC region to access technical resources for  program implementation
           Travel to regions/country to review/monitor progress of various projects, , participate in evaluations, as requested, and contribute to the writing of recommendations  to  improve implementation
          Track and facilitate the approval in NY headquarters of project plans, project agreements and addendum, contracts, and any other legal documents
          Coordinate, track and support all  partnership  related activities to ensure compliance with donor requirements, including development of donor proposals, monitoring project performance and budget utilization, and reporting to the donors
          Ensure LAC’s program activities are compliant with ORBIS policies and procedures
         Contribute to the development of organization procedures, policies and systems as requested
          Participate in special projects and perform additional tasks as requested by the supervisor
 
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
 
      Masters Degree in international development or related disciplines such as public health, and other social sciences
        NGO related program experience and experience in eye care sector is a plus
Minimum 7 years progressive international program planning and management with experience in diverse multi-cultural work environments

      • Good business acumen with the ability to identify opportunities and organize work and team to execute project work efficiently, meet deadlines and multitask
• Flexible, pro-active, and open-minded work style: the ability to work productively both independently and in a team-based environment
• Demonstrated report and proposal-writing skills and a willingness to participate in research activities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
• Bilingual English-Spanish and one other language in the LAC region, are preferred;
• Ability to develop and manage budgets and understand income and expenditure reports. Strong attention to financial details
• Strong computer skills- Proficiency in  MS Office,  basic statistics, Internet and social media savvy;
• Ability to travel internationally 30% of the time
