FleishmanHillard’s Brussels office is seeking an experienced Head of Media Relations to join its established international Public Affairs office. FleishmanHillard is one of the world's leading public affairs and communications groups, with over 80 offices worldwide. The Brussels office consists of about 70 full-time consultants, who collaborate across the office on their specific areas of expertise – e.g. chemicals, healthcare, consumer, financial services, and environment policy. Responsibilities include:
  •  Build and maintain a vibrant network of contacts among the key Brussels-based journalists
  •  Provide advice, internally, to the teams within the office on media relations activities and contribute, when possible, to implement public affairs and communications programmes.
  •  Provide operational and strategic support to the different internal teams on how best to communicate externally and internally.
  •  Provide media relations support to clients and, where the account is predominantly media relations, lead and/or manage the account.
  •  Organise, build and provide media relations training to clients.
  •  Contribute to the new business process, focusing on media relations and to the broader Reputation Management approach within the office.
  •  Supervise and support junior staff on the team.
  •  Represent the Brussels office as part of the FH Media Relations practice group (currently led out of NYC).
The successful candidate will have:
  •  8 to 10 years experience in consultancy, especially on the Brussels market – able to demonstrate a good grasp of the policy environment and how the EU works.
Knowledge and understanding
  •  Strong, proven, living network of media contacts.
  •  Proven record of media relations advice and activity and an excellent understanding of and engagement with social media, especially as it pertains to media relations
Skills and abilities
  •  Excellent communication, writing and research skills
  •  Native /near as English speaker (fluency in other European languages an advantage)
  •  Convinced team player
  •  Ability to manage multiple deadlines
  •  Proficient in Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
