IDF is looking for a temporary replacement for one of its technical staff officers from 16 August, 2013 – 24 January, 2014 in its office in Brussels.
Summary Job Description
Under the general guidance and supervision of the Technical Director, the replacement officer will be responsible for monitoring, conducting and evaluating IDF work in the field of Environment and Sustainability, and related areas.
Under the general guidance and supervision of the Technical Director, the replacement officer will be responsible for monitoring, conducting and evaluating IDF work in the field of Environment and Sustainability, and related areas.
The replacement officer’s work will entail following-up on current work items in the area of Environment and Sustainability, in particular:
- Preparing and circulating working documents for relevant Standing Committee on Environment (SCENV) and Action Team meetings at the IDF World Dairy Summit in October/November 2013;
- Finalizing preparations for the Global Dairy Agenda for Action (GDAA) Reporting Session at the IDF World Dairy Summit 2013;
- Consulting SCENV experts to prepare IDF comments to relevant FAO reports;
- Following-up on the development of ISO standards of interest to the SCENV;
- Monitoring activities of—and coordinating activities with—organizations and initiatives that IDF collaborates with in the area of environment/sustainability, in consultation with relevant IDF experts and staff; and
- Coordinating communications activities related to the SCENV work items, GDAA, and activities with FAO and other organizations/initiatives that IDF collaborates with in the area of environment/sustainability.
Essential Qualifications
- Advanced university degree or equivalent qualification and experience in environment/sustainability-related discipline
- Ability to understand and communicate scientific and technical issues relevant to the dairy sector
- Excellent ability to collaborate and work as part of teams made up of multiple international partners
- Excellent communication skills, including ability to speak and write concisely in English
- Excellent administrative, computer, and project management skills
Preference will be given to candidates who also have:
- Work experience in one of the following areas: sustainable dairying/dairy processing; environmental impact assessment of dairy farming/processing
- Knowledge of French, Spanish and possibly other languages
