The Organisation
QGC is a leading Australian coal seam gas explorer and producer focused on supplying cleaner hydrocarbon energy to growing domestic and international markets.

We are establishing Queensland Curtis LNG, a world-first project to turn reserves of natural coal seam gas in the Surat and Bowen basins in Queensland into liquefied natural gas (LNG) – a carbon efficient fuel.

QGC, which is wholly owned by the British energy company BG Group, employs more than 4,300 staff and contractors. 
Position Summary
The incumbent will assist the Commissioning & Start-up Manager to manage the operations function for commissioning activity with projects and modification engineering scopes, to ensure compliance with the Operations Management System Policy and operational HSSE requirements.

This role will be required to interface between Operations and the Project Commissioning teams to ensure that project scopes are delivered in accordance with operational requirements and company procedures.

They will also be responsible for assisting in developing the necessary Commissioning & Start Up philosophies, plans, procedures and controls to support and promote a timely and seamless facility transition to Operations.

A thorough understanding of Completions Management Systems and Handover requirements is required to fulfil the role. The position plays a key role in accepting all handover documentation prior to Ready For Start Up (RFSU) been issued, in accordance with the Completions & Handover Strategy, Punch listing procedure, Facility Turnover dossier and the Pre-Start Up Safety Review (PSSR).

The Commissioning & Start Up Superintendent will be the assigned Site Safety Manager (SSM) for their area of responsibility.
Key Accountabilities
Core Accountabilities

• A Key Member of the Upstream Operations Interface site leadership team.
• Supervise the day-to-day Commissioning & Start Up activities in the Upstream Control room.
• Ensure that Commissioning & Start Up activities are thoroughly planned and communicated, ensuring they are fully integrated with the Operations schedules (IAPS)
• Responsible for the successful, incident free tie in of new facilities to the Upstream Control Room.
• Maintain Communication & Alignment with Commissioning & Start up Superintendents for Wells, Compression Facilities and Pipelines, to ensure a safe, seamless, and uninterrupted start up is achieved.
• Ensure all Commissioning & Start up activities in the Upstream Control Room are carried out safely, effectively, on time and in accordance with all applicable QGC Upstream Projects and Operational procedures.
• Interface between Upstream Operations and Projects for all Commissioning/Start-up related matters.
• Assist the Commissioning & Start-up Manager in the management of the Upstream Operations interface with Projects from Mechanical completion (MC1) to Acceptance Handover (AC1).
• Review and accept handover documentation in accordance with the Completions Handover Manual Procedure and the Completions & Handover Strategy.
• Review Commissioning & Start Up plans, procedures and handover dossiers.
• Ensure readiness to execute Commissioning & Start up Plans.
• Assist the Commissioning & Start up Manager with the planning, coordination, execution and follow up of all Commissioning & Start Up activities and ensure that all activities are carried out in strict Compliance with QGC rules and procedures.
• Prepare progress reports on all Commissioning & Start Up activities, in accordance with the Communications & Handover procedure.
• Support the Commissioning & Start up Manager with the management of the Operations aspects of project interface activities in particular with Procurement, Engineering, Scheduling and Commissioning.
• Provide support into all aspects of the various sub project schedules and the integrated project schedule.

People Management• Be a leader of people within the direct and indirect team environment.
• Maintain a strong relationship with the wider Commissioning & Start up team to ensure delivery of QCLNG safely, incident free and on time.
• Safety Manager (SSM) for their area of responsibility.
• The incumbent must adhere to the annual HR cycle and meet deadlines within the appropriate timeframes.

• The incumbent assists in the management of the Operations Interface – Commissioning/ & Start-up activities.
• Influences recruitment/staffing levels and ensures effective utilisation of supervised staff.
• The incumbent is responsible for ensuring tasks are achieved within allocated project plan milestones, or time lines given.


Position Specific• As a specialist, the incumbent makes recommendations to work flows and assists in the management of issues within their field.
• Improves efficiency of operations tasks e.g. re-scheduling.
• Able to intervene in any activity deemed unsafe.
• Reviews and recommends changes relating to processes and tasks to management.

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Experience Needed:
• Extensive experience in Oil and Gas industry related Commissioning, Start up and Operations.
• Extensive Experience of Control Room Operations/Management.
• Proven experience in identifying potential issues and providing solutions.
