Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development (APWLD) is currently inviting candidates from Asia Pacific countries, with relevant experience and skills to apply for the position of Information and Communications Officer.
APWLD is a regional network of women's organisations and activists in Asia Pacific, committed to women’s rights and feminist movements. APWLD’s members are drawn from 25 countries and the secretariat is based in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
The successful applicant will coordinate APWLD’s communications strategies, work with programme staff to develop content for publication and for our website, manage our on-line and social media communications. She will play a leading role in developing campaign tools and messaging.  The position reports directly to the Regional Coordinator.

Selection Criteria:

Essential
  • Demonstrated commitment to the promotion of women’s human rights in Asia Pacific
  • Degree in social sciences, communications or journalism;
  • Minimum of three years experience in communications 
  • Excellent command of English language, both oral and written; proven ability in writing, editing and publishing a range of materials for a variety of target audiences
  • Knowledge of campaigning for social justice, particularly women’s rights and economic justice;
  • Experience managing on-line communications using content management systems (Wordpress) and working with programmers to customise sites for higher functionality. Experience implementing social media strategies
  • Experience developing advocacy materials and drafting press releases, statements and submissions;
  • Experience drafting annual reports and donor reports;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to network and liaise in a multi-cultural environment
Desirable
  • Experience with basic HTML, database integration,
  • Video production

Key tasks:

  • Develops and implements APWLD’s communications strategy
  • Writes, edits and collects articles and materials for APWLD regular and special publications, and oversees compilation, editing, design, publication and distribution, including quarterly newsletters and member updates
  • Maintains the APWLD information/ advocacy database
  • Manages and updates the APWLD website and social media sites
  • Manages media relations, including issuing press releases and statements and responding to media requests
  • Coordinates campaign materials production and 
  • Prepares documentation, narrative, annual, financial and other reports in line with assigned work
  • Coordinates the production of advocacy and training resource materials as required in collaboration with relevant programmes
  • Assists the Regional Coordinator in the preparation of reports and project proposals 
  • Assists in preparing for Regional Council and Programme and Management Committee meetings
  • May represent APWLD in regional/international fora as approved by the Regional Coordinator
Remuneration
Salary range commences at THB 51,750 per month (equivalent to USD 1,500 converted at a set rate of THB 34.5). Other benefits include contributions to employment pension fund; housing and relocation allowances for staff residing outside of Thailand.
The contract is for three years, with a probationary period of four months.
