HEAD OF OFFICE OF THE CENTRE FOR INTERNATIONAL JUSTICE
In The Hague , The Netherlands
Full time position / fixed term contract (1 year) with possibility of extension
Amnesty International (AI) campaigns for victims of genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, torture, extrajudicial executions and enforced disappearances to have access to justice, truth and reparations without discrimination whatsoever; the removal of common barriers to justice, such as amnesties, immunities or statutes of limitations; and for the international community to step in through the exercise of universal jurisdiction or the International Criminal Court (ICC) or other relevant international or internationalized criminal courts when national authorities are unable or unwilling to ensure justice for victims of these international crimes.
The Centre is an office established jointly by AI’s International Secretariat and Amnesty International Netherlands to support and strengthen AI’s efforts to promote an effective system of international justice with the objective of combating impunity. The Centre acts as a liaison and representative office for AI on international justice issues, particularly with respect to the ICC.
The Head of Office has overall responsibility for managing the Centre. S/he will act as AI’s representative in The Hague focusing on international justice. S/he will also be responsible for public communication, the production of authoritative publications, and will develop and manage a visitors’ programme for lawyers, human rights activists, representatives of AI’s sections and structures, and other partners working on international justice issues.
