The Organisation

This will deliver a more sustainable future and robust business proposition for Europe E&P, as well as enhanced development opportunities for individuals across the combined teams. With a joint portfolio producing over 100 kboe/ day, our goal is to continue building a truly excellent Exploration and Production business in Europe E&P.
Position Summary
The Mechanical Technician is part of the maintenance team offshore, accountable for maintenance of mechanical facility and the Platform infrastructure. 

The jobholder is accountable for ensuring compliance with UK Upstream, and BG Advance standards and whenever and wherever possible industry best practice is applied to support ongoing improvement in operational performance. 
Key Accountabilities

HSSE
• Contributes to a culture of continuous HSSE performance improvement.
• Ensure that Mechanical Maintenance activities on the Platform fully comply with BG practices including safe systems of work.
• Contribute to the development of maintenance related emergency response training scenarios.
• Actively contribute to assist the Maintenance Team achieve outstanding performance in meeting BG Group targets of HSSE and efficiency.

Mechanical Maintenance• Complete routine maintenance, fault diagnosis and corrective maintenance of mechanical equipment.
• Ensure Safety Critical Routines are completed on time and compliance targets are met.
• Carry out front line maintenance on all Mechanical equipment.
• Where defects are identified ensure a work order is raised in CMMS.
• Ensure work of specialist vendors conforms to BG procedures.
• Assist Operations Technicians as required.
• Completion of comprehensive shift handovers
• Update CMMS system with complete, comprehensive and accurate maintenance data.
• Ensure compliance with offshore maintenance plans. 
• Contribute towards optimisation of maintenance man-hours and minimise equipment downtime by critically assessing maintenance practices in association with the Maintenance Team Lead.

Financials• Ensure cost effective Maintenance is being carried out

People and Organisation• Demonstrate an active performance mindset to others within maintenance team, focus behaviours on safe working and optimising maintenance against key targets under the direction of the Maintenance Team Lead. 
Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Adept at working in an offshore team structure.
Strong mechanical maintenance experience in an upstream business – preferably oil and gas.
Track record of demonstrating success at delivering against maintenance plans and efficiency targets.
Proven ability to deliver a safety critical role associated with the function

A recognised Apprenticeship Mechanical Engineering and obtained HNC certificate Mechanical Engineering or ECS Mechanical Maintenance Level 3 or equivalent.

- Diesel driven engines for emergency generation and fire pumps.
- Multi stage export and booster pumps.
- Submersible seawater lift pumps.
- Fire main system and deluge.
- Working Understanding of UK offshore legislation especially Production related areas.
- Mandatory safety, medical regulatory regulations for travel working offshore UKCS.
- Fully conversant with all forms of process engineering documentation, including block diagrams, PFD’s, P&ID’s, Data Sheets and Cause & Effect charts.
- Good working knowledge of computer based logging equipment and use of pc’s for reporting.
- Knowledge of maintenance software (Maximo) an advantage.
- Working Knowledge of pressure relief valves would be advantageous.
- Proven capability in maintaining production equipment in an offshore oil & gas environment. Ideally skilled in operation of gas, oil & utilities aspect of production facilities.
- Proven capability in measuring and reporting data to deliver performance improvements.

Safety Critical Role:
- Perform in an emergency response role as defined in the company procedures, managing and controlling emergencies response action in the event of accidents or incidents.
- Assimilate diverse and fragmented information and identify contingencies.
- Incumbent will have a visible presence onshore, including undertaking onshore projects for defined periods of time particularly before/after trips to support the business needs.
- Travel to other BG offices and facilities will be expected.
- Monitor and respond effectively to situation changes.
