Head of Policy UK Poverty (Educational Attainment)

Head of Policy UK Poverty (Educational Attainment)
Save the Children has a long and credible history in the UK. In 1944 we successfully campaigned for free school meals and milk.
Today we tackle critical elements of the poverty cycle, responding to the effects of poverty on children and underlying causes, through innovative education programmes and campaigning.
We believe that to tackle educational disadvantage we must continue to make schools better but we also must support children across all the contexts in which they learn and develop.
We are at a pivotal moment for child poverty in the UK. Save the Children is investing to be the catalyst for change, to transform the lives of many thousands of children.
In the new role of Head of Policy UK Poverty (Educational Attainment) you will have the opportunity to develop a distinctive analysis of the policy landscape around educational attainment in the UK, and identify points of action that informs Save the Children’s campaigning work, and links to our programme knowledge and experience.
Save the Children’s programmes focus on supporting schools by helping children to learn and develop beyond the school gates - in their families and communities. We want to lead the debate on whole-child support and services so that every child can realise their potential.
This is a leading strategic post for the development of Save the Children UK’s work.
In this high profile role we see you bringing an ability to create an overview of the UK early years and childcare landscape, with a track record in advocacy and understanding key policy debates.
In return we offer the opportunity to lead the UK child education attainment agenda and develop your career with an organisation committed to ending UK child poverty.
