Position Summary
A Volume analyst ensures the accuracy of final gas allocations on multiple pipelines, storages, park and loans, gathering systems, and plants. The role will also reconcile, validate, and lock down transportation and storage invoices for settlement. Tasks include, but are not limited to the aggregation, review, and reconciliation of pipeline volume statements, timely and accurate actualization of volumes in the trading system, reconciliation and finalization of transportation costs, reconciliation of well activity and pipeline balances including cash outs and inventory. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
Key Accountabilities
• Implement key tools to support business performance (i.e. escalation of significant changes in producer volumes, key performance indicators, and processes and procedures for new tasks or improvement ideas.• Takes the lead on discussions with upper management, front and back office personnel. • Ensure timely and accurate pipeline and storage volume balancing, which results in accuracy of invoicing components and financial statement representations. • Partnership with the business to ensure timely and accurate review and validation of pipeline invoices for transportation, storage, and imbalance settlements. • Identify and implement processes and procedures for new tasks or improvement ideas. • Liaison between volume actualization, front office scheduling and IT personnel. • Identify issues, develop, and implement solutions to resolve the trading system's transaction flow, system functionality, and data integrity issues with deal structures and the set up of transportation rates. • Escalation of stop gap issues identified in front to back office processes • Cross-departmental coordination to ensure timely processing of key revenue and expense components for the business. • Technical expert in volume actualization. Responsible for learning 100 + pipelines/storages. • Provides a strategic, solutions-oriented focus. • Monitors volume balancing and accurate storage balances for the team. • Validates the completion of all pipeline actualization and balancing on a monthly basis. • Reviews monthly A/P and A/R Aging reports and identifies and addresses delays in invoiced volume adjustments. • Ensures the accuracy of invoicing related to industrial and producer counterparties with complex deals. • Analyzes data for trends and anomalies. Produce monthly key performance indicator reporting for actualization activity. • Takes the lead in resolving system issues related to data entry and scripts. • Interact with Finance, Front Office, and Pipeline Representatives on a regular basis. • Develop and document procedures for related activities, and modifies procedures as required. • Assist with coordination of audit requests and help ensure adherence to governance frameworks • Identifies issues and develops, recommends and implements solutions to maximize performance and ensure effective delivery. • Identifies weaknesses in internal controls and recommends improvements. • Performs special projects as dictated by business needs. • Responsible for the training and development of volume, settlement, and rotational employees. • Works with the transportation team to ensure accuracy of new rates, fees and pass through costs. • Works closely with the logistics team to ensure accuracy of pathing for all pipelines. Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Experience Needed:
• 5 + years of strong working knowledge of gas volume actualization and/or gas scheduling experience preferred.
• Specific knowledge of energy marketing and trading settlement terms and concepts. • Strong working knowledge of MS Word and Excel. Specialist Knowledge/Languages:
• Accounting, Finance or related degree from an accredited university required
