Based in Maseru, Lesotho, the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) is looking for aProgram Coordinator to support a short-term project in human resource optimization and program monitoring and evaluation. There is currently funding for the position through the end of 2013 with a strong likelihood that additional funding will be secured for a longer-term assignment (ideally 2 years or more).

Responsibilities: |
CHAI Lesotho has partnered with the HR Directorate of the Ministry of Health to develop a demand based Human Resources for Health (HRH) optimization analysis focusing on priority cadre of health care workers. The objective of the optimization analysis is to provide data needed for evidence-based allocation of human resources in Lesotho’s public sector health system. The ideal candidate would be prepared to start as soon as possible in order to meet a donor deadline for wrapping up the exercise by the end of 2013. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the completion of this project including responsibilities such as:
- Coordinating and acting as technical the main technical resource for the HRH optimization taskforce, with guidance from the CHAI Applied Analytics Team
- Liasing with various departments within the MOH
- Liaising with the CHAI Applied Analytics Team on modeling
- Identifying and collecting secondary data from the MOH and other sources
- Synthesizing and disseminating findings through high quality presentations and reports

Qualifications: |
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in public health, business, economics
- At least 3 years professional experience managing and evaluating public health programs
- Exceptional diplomacy and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to build strong professional relationships with a range of stakeholders in a challenging, multicultural environment
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to prepare compelling presentations
- Strong quantitative skills including modeling or program evaluation
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- High level of proficiency in relevant computer applications including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities and work independently and flexibly with a strong commitment to excellence
