The Organisation
Group Treasury is responsible for optimising the group capital structure to support the business strategy and for allocating financial resources efficiently, complying with regulations and creating additional shareholder value. The Treasury organisation has redefined its Business Strategy by providing value added services to the overall organisation through meeting future growth objectives and providing more accurate and increased financial transparency.
Position Summary
The Project Finance Analyst will support the investigation, analysis and execution of financing options for BG Group's capital projects including shipping.
 
The jobholder shall be responsible for the identification of potential funding sources, preparation of financing plans, debt structuring, and supporting the negotiation of credit facilities with external lenders. The Project Finance Analyst will also provide dealing cover for the Group Treasury Dealer as and when required.
Key Accountabilities
  • The analysis of capital project funding strategies and debt structures.
  • Identifying and evaluating potential sources of debt funding including commercial lenders, project bonds, export credit agencies, multilateral agencies, development banks and ship leases.
  • Preparing financing plans for the funding of BG Group project developments.
  • Assisting in the selection and management of financial advisers for project and corporate financings.
  • Supporting the selection and management of external due diligence consultants and legal counsel.
  • Liaising with internal legal, commercial, tax, finance, HSSE, and technical resources to facilitate financings.
  • Liaising with commercial and investment banks.
  • Supporting the negotiation of financing terms and conditions and financing documentation with external lenders.
  • Providing cover for the Group Treasury Dealer executing short-term funding, cash investment, foreign exchange transactions and interest rate derivatives.

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Experience required:
  • Previous experience in an economics or commercial role, while not a pre-requisite, would be beneficial to the jobholder.
  • Experience of and be comfortable working in team environments.
Skills, knowledge and attributes required:
  • A background in numerical analysis, economics or financial modelling would be an advantage.
  • Understanding of the Treasury function and familiarity with financing structures and documentation would be beneficial.
  • Strong analytical background, preferably quantitative in nature, and sound judgement.
  • Good understanding of the basics of accounting as well as corporate and project finance.
  • Ability to perform economic evaluations and financial modelling.
  • Familiarity with the oil and gas business generally and a sound understanding of BG Group's business model.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self motivated and confident, with the ability to collaborate in multi-disciplinary team environments.
  • Strong negotiation skills, tact and diplomacy, with the ability to influence.
  • A sensitivity to the interests of investors and lenders.
  • A good understanding of the economic, financial and business environment.
  • A sound understanding of BG Group’s business model.
  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
