Our Corporate Practice Group
Our Corporate practice group is the firm’s largest. We act for private and public companies, banks, governments and states, amongst others.   
Our legal professionals will work on a broad mix of transactions, including public and private merger and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity and securities offerings. Most of the work will have an international dimension and will range from some of the largest and most complex transactions to smaller deals which provide greater responsibility. We offer comprehensive training and career development for associates at all levels and encourage secondments, both within our international network and to our clients.

Place of Work

Based in the Hong Kong office, business needs may require work to be undertaken at other places within Hong Kong and overseas, including other Freshfields offices or client premises. Such work will necessarily involve travel.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks

  • Physical data room management including:
    • collation, copying, redacting and indexing documentation;
    • Verification of copied documentation to ensure it has been copied correctly;
    • dealing with requests from data room visitors;
    • invigilation
  • Virtual data room management including:
    • collation, copying, redacting and indexing documentation; preparation of documentation for uploading to the data room;
    • verification of the data room to ensure all documentation correctly uploaded;
  • Document review/proofreading including:
    • checking amendments
    • verifying cross-references
    • checking definitions
    • word for word proofreading
    • checking for sense/consistency
  • Document management including:
    • photocopying documents or co-ordinating copying of documents with the Reprographics department
    • scanning documents
    • indexing and boxing documents for archiving
  • Due diligence/contract reviews
  • Post transaction bible production including:
    • sourcing documents
    • indexing
    • arranging publication in hard copy or CD
  • Translating documents including:
    • from or into English or other languages
    • proofreading of translations to ensure readability
  • Organisation of and attendance at Signings and Completions including
    • preparation of documentation
    • client-facing assistance
  • Other reasonable and lawful tasks as instructed

Education & Qualifications

The ideal candidate has a top class academic record with an keen interest in Corporate cross-border transactions (IPO and/or M&A). 
 
He or she has excellent English oral and communication skills and native Mandarin language fluency (reading and writing).  In addition, he or she has completed further studies outside the PRC.

Skills & Experience

  • Office administration experience and some previous paralegal work experience (including summer internships).
  • IT skills, such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
