The Infrastructure and Operational Services function ensures that the core IT infrastructure and core business applications run efficiently, effectively and securely.
Role Summary/Purpose of Job
To operate the firm's network and telecommunications technologies on a day-to-day basis.
- Carries out agreed operational procedures. Contributes to the implementation of maintenance and installation work. Identifies operational problems and contributes to their resolution.
- Investigates problems in systems and services. Assists with the implementation of agreed remedies and preventative measures.
- Develops, documents and implements changes based on requests for change. Applies change control procedures.
- Receives and handles requests for support following agreed procedures. Responds to requests for support by providing information to enable incident resolution and promptly allocates unresolved calls as appropriate. Maintains records and advises relevant p
- Contributes to the availability management process. Analyses service and component availability, reliability, maintainability and serviceability. Ensures that services and components meet and continue to meet all of their agreed performance targets and service levels. Implements arrangements for disaster recovery and documents recovery procedures. Conducts testing of recovery procedures.
- Monitors service component capacity and initiates actions to resolve any shortfalls according to agreed procedures. Applies techniques to modify demand for a particular resource or service.
- Assesses and analyses release components. Provides input to scheduling. Ensures release processes and procedures are maintained.
- Undertakes routine installations and de-installations of items of hardware and/or software. Documents details of all hardware/software items that have been installed and removed so that configuration management records can be updated.
- Identifies and resolves network problems following agreed procedures. Uses network management software and tools to collect agreed performance statistics. Carries out agreed network maintenance tasks.

Essential Technical Skills
- Knowledge of TCP/IP and associated protocols.
- Knowledge of network devices and associated protocols. Specifically Juniper.
- Knowledge of layer 2 network protocols, specifically routing protocols.
- Knowledge of telecommunications systems and protocols including unified communications technologies.
Desirable Technical Skills
- Experience of administrating NetScaler.
- Knowledge and experience of current Windows server operating environments, Active Directory and Group Policy.
- Knowledge of load balancing technologies.
- Knowledge of video conference systems.
- Knowledge of unified communications systems.
- Knowledge of web infrastructure, such as network proxies and caching.
Desirable Qualifications
- ITIL Service Management Foundation certification (or equivalent)
- MCSA, MCSE, MCP
- CISSP, Other relevant network or telecommunication technical qualifications
