Fund Manager Based in Myanmar

The Burma Enterprise Opportunity Facility aims to improve economic opportunities for poor people in Burma by unlocking the potential of business by working in five areas: The regulatory and institutional environment for doing business; financial sector; infrastructure – financing and policy; trade; and inclusion and responsible business. The facility will have two primary roles: provision of advice, technical assistance and capacity building; and issuing calls for proposals for innovative new projects that contribute to the objectives of the programme.
Responsibilities:
- Develop strong business networks and help develop a pipeline of potential grantees.
- Undertake due diligence of potential grantees; participate in structuring, negotiating and execution of deals.
- Management of the fund portfolio
- Provide business mentoring to the grantees
- Prepare analytical frameworks for monitoring and evaluation activities measuring financial and social impact.
- Track and monitor compliance of grantees, prepare supervision reports against relevant benchmarks and propose courses of action in the event of non-compliance.
- Communicate the funding strategy and its rationale for engaging in specific transactions to stakeholders.
- Develop knowledge material and case studies
- Promote and facilitate scale up of grantees with potential impact/commercial investors for scale up
- Provide management, oversight and mentoring to project grants team and to the Myanmar Centre for Responsible Business.
Required Qualifications:
- Master in Business Administration or Finance or equivalent qualifications
- 10+ years of experience related to private equity market in emerging markets, impact investing and/or inclusive business
- Grant fund management and/or pipeline development experience with large donor-funded projects
- Proven leadership qualities and experience as project manager
- Good understanding of field realities; ability to link different professional spheres: business, government, development and funding agencies
- Excellent communication skills and experience working with local stakeholders.
Desirable
- Past working experience in Southeast Asia and particularly Myanmar is highly desirable
- Past experience with DFID, including knowledge of DFID’s project management systems and approaches to private sector development
Contract Duration: 3 years

Desired Start Date: January 2016, contingent on donor funding award
