Research Analyst - Impact Audit

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: 
Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) discovers and promotes effective solutions to global poverty problems. IPA designs, rigorously evaluates, and refines these solutions and their applications together with decision-makers to ensure that the evidence created is used to improve opportunities for the world’s poor. Since our founding in 2002, IPA has worked with over 350 leading academics to conduct over 450 evaluations in 51 countries. This research has informed hundreds of successful programs that now impact millions of individuals worldwide.
ABOUT THE JOB: 
Impact Audit is changing how other nonprofits and their funders use and create evidence to achieve their missions. We conduct “impact audits”, short-term engagements with two objectives: to guide nonprofits in strengthening their use and creation of evidence and to certify to donors that an organization is appropriately evidence-based.
Impact Audit seeks qualified applicants for the position of Research Analyst, based in New Haven, Connecticut. Our Research Analysts conduct all aspects of a nonprofit impact audit, including pre-engagement literature review and organization selection, organization engagement and communication, analysis of internal data and documents, assessment of audit criteria, final audit production, and post-audit follow up work with the organization. Our Research Analysts play an instrumental role in sourcing, analyzing, and ultimately recommending organizations that are effective and deserve donor support.
We are looking for motivated self-starters, excited about working to launch a new organization and develop a vital tool for the social sector.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Conducting literature reviews and other evidence assessments;
  • Finding and evaluating organizations for participation;
  • Engaging with organizations and maintaining communication with senior staff on the status and progress of the audit;
  • Analyzing public and internal documents, data, and other information on the organization’s use and production of evidence;
  • Assessing the organization against audit criteria;
  • Developing final audit documents and debriefing organization staff;
  • Contributing to the development of impact audit standards and processes.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, social sciences, public policy, or related fields;
  • Self-motivating, flexible, efficient, and a team player;
  • Excellent management, organizational and quantitative skills;
  • English fluency and excellent communication skills;
  • Two-year commitment with willingness to travel.
