ABOUT THE JOB:
The Officer, Foundations and Strategic Partnerships is a new position for Pro Mujer. The Officer will be a crucial member of a successful and growing team. Foundations are now a small part of our funding mix, and as we prepare to grow support for Pro Mujer, we seek a stellar candidate who likes challenges and values making an impact on women’s lives. The Officer will identify and prioritize prospects and launch relationships with foundations holding the most promise for Pro Mujer. She/he will craft strategies to engage foundations, will be a front-line representative of Pro Mujer and will also work closely with staff and Board members to engage relationships. The Officer will also position Pro Mujer for prizes and awards, a strategy that has already borne fruit.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Identify, research, and prioritize foundation, prize, and award prospects;
- Lead relationship-development, including visiting with foundations, joining field trips, networking, and working closely with other staff and volunteer leadership to ignite relationships;
- Craft ideas and communications to cultivate, engage, solicit, and steward relationships, including proposals, letters of inquiry, reports, profiles, and updates. Manage report and proposal calendars and submissions;
- Collaborate with Finance and Operations Departments, as well as country program colleagues and technical leaders within Pro Mujer to gather ideas and information for grant applications, budgets and reports and for managing grants and gifts;
- Develop, hire, and manage a team of interns and temps and assemble teams across Development and Communications and from other departments as needed to develop ideas and manage relationships;
- Assist Senior Director and fellow Officer, Strategic Partnerships by serving as liaison, attending meetings, and working with organization leadership and staff to facilitate processing and implementation of grants;
- Input relationship information for portfolio; keep excellent digital files.;
- Manage special projects, as requested.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required;
- 3-5 years of experience in non-profit settings with fundraising, sales, and preferably foundations experience preferred;
- Fluency in Spanish, both verbal and written. Conducting discussions and translating in these two languages will be part of daily life at Pro Mujer;
- Must be self-motivated, detail and deadline oriented, and capable of working comfortably with a variety of staff at all positions within the organization;
- Excellent writing, organizational, budgeting, planning, research, and computer skills required;
- Knowledge of the philanthropic communities focused on financial inclusion, women’s equity, gender violence prevention and treatment, women’s leadership, or public health preferred;
- Knowledge of MS Office required and fundraising databases, especially Salesforce, desirable;
- Flexible and open to new approaches and/or changes in priorities;
- Outstanding team contributor and collaborator in a multi-cultural environment;
- A passion and commitment to improve the quality of life of women from low-income communities in Latin America.
