Location:
WWF Office in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
Main responsibilities:
- Directs, manages and takes responsibility for conservation activities of WWF in Mongolia, within policies, procedures and standards set by the WWF International Board
- Leads the development and implementation of fundraising strategies and plans for WWF Mongolia
- Seeks financial support for the conservation programme by establishing good contacts with relevant bi- and multilateral agencies as well as other institutions and foundations and ensures the exploitation of the funding potential by submitting well written proposals
- Responsible for supervision of all Conservation Staff ensuring the for the accomplishing of their duties and responsibilities
- Ensures effective implementation of the Conservation programme in accordance with WWF policies, procedures and standards
- Ensures effective communication and collaboration with national governments, international agencies and other non-governmental organisations to build strength and support for implementation of the Conservation Programme
What you need:
Required Qualifications
- A higher degree (PhD or Masters) in conservation, natural resources management, natural sciences or related field. Relevant work experience in conservation may be substituted for higher academic qualification;
- Technical proficiency in the field of nature conservation and natural resource management, with at least 8 years professional experience, with demonstrated success in leading managing multi-disciplinary teams
- 5-7 years in a leadership and/or management position, and experiences in programme and project planning and implementation
Required Skills and Competencies
- Excellent oral and written communications skills in English
- Good communication and negotiation skills,
- Excellent inter-personal skills, including the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships at all levels, within WWF Mongolia and, as required, with external stakeholders;
- Ability to work in a team and motivate staff and stakeholders
- Ability to liaise effectively with local communities and governments at different levels
- Adheres to WWF’s values, which are: Knowledgeable, Optimistic, Determined and Engaging.
