DEPUTY REGIONAL PROJECT MANAGER HIGHER EDUCATION

Location: Gaziantep, potentially Amman, Beirut or Erbil
Type/Duration:Full-time for 12 months, possibility of extension

Under supervision of the Regional Project Manager, the Deputy Regional Project Manager (DRPM) will be responsible for supporting the project manager in all tasks related to successful management of this multi-year, multi-country project that provides Syrian refugees with access to Higher Education in the host countries and within Syria. The project will be conducted in Jordan, Lebanon, KRG, Turkey and Syria. The DRPM should be able to assist in drafting narrative project reports, finalizing studies conducted, and coordinating with implementing partners, cooperating HE providers and SPARK staff involved in the region. The DRPM will also be main responsibly for organizing regional activities such as workshops and yearly conferences. The position will most likely be based in Gaziantep but could potentially be in Amman, Beirut or Erbil as well. The position will require extensive travelling in the region and possibly in a later stage inside Syria (depending on the security situation).
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Supporting the project manager in drafting narrative project reports and finalizing studies;
  • Supporting the project manager in coordination/management of consortium partners, cooperating HE providers and SPARK staff in the region;
  • Responsible for organizing yearly, regional conferences and/or workshops;
  • Maintain relations with regional universities and authorities;
  • Ensure solid outreach into the hardest to reach refugee communities;
  • Provide organizational and logistical support for other missions and ongoing activities in the region;
  • Other tasks as required.
Requirements and Skills:
  • Educational background or relevant experience in Middle Eastern studies, Higher Education, International development or a related field;
  • Minimum 3-5 years project management experience;
  • Proven experience in the region;
  • Experience in the TVET/Higher Education sector;
  • Good communication and social skills and the ability to work in a multicultural setting.
  • Knowledge of the political and economic situation in the MENA region;
  • Accurate, structured and precise;
  • Multitasking;
  • Flexible and responsible;
  • Fluent in English is necessary. Fluent in Arabic is strongly preferred.
  • Fluent in French, Turkish, Kurdish or Dutch is an advantage.
