High Court Judges for the Fast Track Commercial Court, Sierra Leone

The Judiciary of Sierra Leone, with support from the Investment Climate Facility for Africa Trust (ICF) and the Government of Sierra Leone, has embarked on the establishment of a Fast Track Commercial Court in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

Invitations are invited from suitably qualified and experienced Judges as Consultant Judges, to adjudicate on commercial and admiralty cases, as well as provide mentoring and training.

Job Summary and Main Functions

  1. Adjudicating on commercial and admiralty cases in the Fast Track Commercial Court.
  2. Supervise Alternative Dispute Resolution/Mediation at the court in terms of the New Commercial Court Rules.
  3. Provide training in court connected ADR mechanisms.
  4. Provide mentoring and training to other Judges in the operations of Fast Track Court.

Qualifications

Candidates must have:

  • An LLB degree and must be admitted to practise in a Common Law Jurisdiction.
  • At least 10 years continuous post admission practice in Law out of which preferably, at least two years must have been on the bench and handling commercial and admiralty cases in a Fast Track Commercial court.
  • Specialist experience in adjudicating on commercial and admiralty cases.
  • Experience in the use of ADR Mechanisms.
  • Experience in the workings of electronic court case management systems.
  • Must be computer literate, a team leader, with excellent communication and inter personal skills.

Period: One year contract with very attractive package is being offered.
