Executive Director

The Tshwane University of Technology has the following vacancies in senior management. All the posts are full-time, fiveyear fixed-term contracts. Please note that some of the following posts were advertised previously and previous applicants who are still interested are required to re-apply.


EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR: HUMAN RESOURCES AND TRANSFORMATION
Peromnes Level 3 (Ref. 11/282)


The Executive Director: Human Resources and Transformation, reporting to the Vice-Chancellor, leads and manages the
overall provision of Human Resources services, policies and programmes for the entire University. The position requires an independent, strategic leader and visionary with strong management skills who is capable of developing and implementing a world-class HR strategy aligned to organisational goals and needs, while building or enhancing the HR infrastructure, capacity and competency to provide efficient, reliable service delivery, streamlined procedures and the maintenance of accurate data. The position requires a sound understanding of all human resources disciplines as well as successful experience in a highly unionised work environment.


Requirements: • A relevant Master’s degree, preferably an MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualifi cation • At least five
years’ specialist or generalist experience in a human resources field at a senior or executive management level, successfully
leading or managing a multidisciplinary human resources division • Sound knowledge of employment law and other relevant legislation • An understanding of the higher education environment, especially challenges emanating from mergers and incorporations • Excellent negotiation, mediation and facilitation skills • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Signifi cant experience in researching, benchmarking and drafting policies and procedures and the successful implementation of appropriate human resources e-systems • Project management and leadership skills • Computer skills.
