Within the Yilgarn Operations Barrick operates four wholly owned Gold Mines in the North Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia producing approx. 500,000-600,000 oz of gold each year.
Our Plutonic Operation is currently seeking a Laboratory Leading Hand to join their Processing team. Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, you will be responsible for the following duties and activities:
  • Accurate and efficient completion of sample testing
  • Carry out diagnosis of equipment and systems failures
  • Assist the Gold Room Foreman with production duties in the elution, carbon regeneration and refinery areas. This includes closely following all procedures, accurate record keeping and ensuring compliance of Gold Room staff and visitors with the Gold Room Security Procedures manual
  • Arrange adequate shift coverage and rosters
  • Work with the Laboratory Supervisor/Chemist. Plant Metallurgist and Mill Training Specialist to facilitate ongoing skill assessment and development
  • Performing functions in an environmentally sustainable manner to achieve statutory compliance (as a minimum objective) while implementing Barrick Group Values
Skills & Abilities

The successful applicant must have the following qualifications and experience:
  • Leadership skills in providing motivation and setting realistic goals
  • Minimum 3 years laboratory experience in a minerals processing operation, including gold treatment plant experience
  • Detailed working knowledge of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations
  • Experienced in the use of computerised maintenance management system (preferably PRONTO)
  • Word processing, spreadsheet and database applications
