Barrick (Granny Smith) Pty Ltd is located 950kms north east of Perth and 23kms south of Laverton and has been one of Australia’s leading gold producers for the last 15 years. With continued growth in our underground mining operations and an exciting exploration portfolio, the projected mine life is 6 years based on the current reserves.

Position Overview:
Reporting to the Granny Smith Gold Mine Environmental Superintendent, the Environmental Advisor will be responsible for the provision of mine-site scientific and technical environmental support. Some of the key accountabilities include:

Some of the key accountabilities include but not limited to:
• Assist in the implementation of Barrick’s Environmental Management System (EMS), policies and procedures;
• Assist the operation to develop, manage and review technical studies as required, such as: closure planning and rehabilitation programmes, water balance studies, groundwater investigation, contaminated sites investigation, Cyanide Code management;
• Carry out monitoring, data collection and reporting;
• Maintain the mine site Environmental Obligation and Risk Registers;
• Provide in-put to develop EIA’s and EMP’s;
• Assist in the development of Barrick continual improvement strategy and utilisation of environmental data management system; and
• Assist in the environmental education of the mine-site workforce

The successful applicant should have the following qualifications/skills;
• Recognised tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or Equivalent
• 2-5 years professional experience within the mining industry in a similar role
• Knowledge of environmental, conservation and heritage related legislation.
• Experience in water management, geochemistry, hydrology, saline water discharge and saltlake ecology will be highly regarded.
• Current “C” Class manual Western Australia License

The operation is fly in/fly out from Perth on an 8 days on / 6 days off roster. Excellent on-site accommodation is provided. Recreational facilities include internet café, Foxtel, swimming pool, tennis court and gymnasium.
