Researcher City & Guilds Centre for Skills Development

The City & Guilds Centre for Skills Development (CSD) is looking for a vocational education researcher with international experience. CSD is a research and development organisation which aims to improve policy & practice in vocational education and training through an evidence-based approach. The researcher will be part of the research and economics team, and will be responsible for conducting research which can be used to inform practical implementation projects.

About the role:
This is a busy and varied role: the researcher will be involved in all of the research activities of the team. This will entail working independently and with others in the team to analyse existing research, manage and conduct new research with a focus on vocational education in the UK and internationally, and develop briefings for internal and external purposes. It is also likely to involve short periods of primary research in the field and the management of external research partners.

About you:
The successful candidate will have a good degree in a relevant field, sound understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methods, knowledge of the vocational education sector, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to deliver high quality research to tight deadlines. They will have experience in a research role, having shown the ability to prioritise information and report effectively, and to conduct independent research.

The candidate will also need strong organisational skills, and be able to demonstrate project management experience. Good computer literacy including use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint are essential. Knowledge of SPSS and Microsoft project would be an advantage.
