Director: Compliance and Enforcement Support
(Five-year contract)
Salary: R685 200 per annum (all-inclusive flexible remuneration package. Conditions apply. The flexible portion of the package can be structured according to the individual’s personal needs) (Ref. OC 23/2011)
V&A Waterfront, Cape Town

Requirements: • A recognised 3-year degree/diploma in Environmental Management Sciences and/or Environmental Law • Proven experience in and knowledge of integrated coastal management systems • Experience in policy development and implementation • Knowledge of and experience in the implementation of legislation • Proven strategic management and leadership skills • Good communication skills (both verbal and report writing), with experience in stakeholder engagement
• Experience in programme and project management • Experience in financial management and related legislation within the public sector. An understanding of the work of the Department and Government will serve as an advantage.

Duties: The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic leadership in the development of a compliance management and enforcement strategy for Integrated Coastal Management and provide guidance to provincial level. He/she will: • Oversee the compliance monitoring of coastal legislation • Develop measures to improve compliance monitoring and enforcement of coastal management legislation • Ensure cooperative governance, enhanced service delivery and stakeholder management through relevant forums, working groups and committees • Ensure effective communication and build relationships with key sector departments, the private sector, research institutions and other key stakeholders (national and international) • Manage financial resources • Ensure the availability of adequate and skilled human capital for the Directorate.

Senior Management candidates will be subjected to competency assessment, signing of an employment contract and performance agreement.
