We are now searching for a:
DIRECTOR, TELECOMMUNICATIONS INDUSTRY
As a key leader within the Centre for Business Engagement (CBE) focused on the telecommunications industry, you will have broad responsibility for helping set the intellectual agenda and priorities for the Forum’s focus on the telecom community. You will oversee a team with responsibility for the positioning and development of the telecom community agenda within the Forum by planning projects, defining priorities and aligning efforts with other parts of the wider organization.
You will directly lead key global research projects, which have broad implications for the community and many private and public sector constituents of the Forum. You will set editorial priorities for on- and offline knowledge products, reports and communications. You will support and ensure the cross-organization alignment, focus and priority setting with respect to all areas of the telecom community agenda. You will also lead the strategic planning efforts for the team as part of the IT and Telecom sector, focusing on the development and implementation of the team's strategy and objectives.
Additional responsibilities include:
• Support the leadership of the Forum’s IT, Electronics, and Telecom Sector Team (ITTC) to develop a viable and ambitious strategy to deepen the Forum’s engagement within the telecom, MSO, unregulated communications providers and network equipment manufacturers’ business community (TC); develop unique industry-focused strategies in coordination with other Forum industry sector leaders and initiative leaders
• Collaborate with CBE leaders to develop and enhance the Forum’s value proposition for TC business leaders in a manner consistent with the Forum’s mission of improving the state of the world
• Increase the number of Industry Partners from the segment; identify the top 100 leading global companies in the segment, develop a strategy and detailed account plans to engage those companies (typically first as Forum Members and subsequently as Industry Partners), and implement them with full accountability
• Build and maintain relationships with top executives, including CEOs and chairpersons
• Engage existing and potential Partners in the Forum’s portfolio of projects and initiatives
• Develop a comprehensive marketing plan for the sector, and conceive, produce and update all marketing literature; update the content of Web portals and other outreach media
• Deliver the “voice of TC” to the Forum’s process of identifying key strategic issues for business leaders; monitor and synthesize relevant developments in industry issues
• Assist in the preparation of various Forum activities in virtual and onsite meetings
We expect you to exhibit demonstrated leadership capabilities, excellence in the field of business, and a proven interest in global affairs. You have an advanced university degree and at least 10 years of successful international experience in a key leadership position within a multinational corporation or government. You have overseen strategic projects and managed significant high-achieving teams. You are comfortable communicating with senior leaders across the private and public sectors, and have a strong network of contacts. You are a strategic thinker with demonstrated leadership capabilities and outstanding communication and relationship management skills. You have experience in managing a P&L and have sales, marketing, and/or client facing experience. The role will require international travel. Strong command of English and, ideally, at least one other language is preferred.
