ACDI/VOCA Communications and Marketing Specialist, Central America

Communications and Marketing Specialist, Central America ACDI/VOCA is seeking an experienced, dynamic and innovative communications professional with nutrition and/or food security experience for a regional integrated trade development project in Central America. The project will work toward reaching higher levels of inclusive economic growth and improve food security, while at the same time enabling the expansion of intraregional trade and exports through consolidated regional value chains and export market access for food and nutrition-critical products. The possible start date is October 2012, and the position is subject to ACDI/VOCA being awarded the program.

Responsibilities: • Design and launch effective public awareness campaigns leveraging public and private sector partnership support for improved nutrition for specific population groups, good agricultural and food handling practices, and enhanced regional food security. • Oversee the development and implementation of training modules on topics such as proper post-harvest storage and handling (to maintain maximum nutrition impact), improved household diet diversity (including budgeting aspects) and improved general household-level food security.
• Promote project interventions that integrate gender sensitive approaches.

Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, public health, home economics, agriculture or equivalent from an accredited university is required. Advanced degree preferred • Demonstrated knowledge in public health and/or nutrition • Demonstrated knowledge of agricultural development preferred • Demonstrated experience in public education, social behavior change, training of trainers methodologies, particularly gender sensitive, and/or development of a communication strategy is preferred • Minimum of 5 years’ progressive experience working in Central America
• Fluency in Spanish required
