University of Nottingham - The School of Contemporary Chinese Studies

Salary is negotiable depending on skills and experience will be within the professorial range, minimum £55,908 per annum.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the above post based in the School of Contemporary Chinese Studies at the University of Nottingham.

The person appointed will be expected to significantly strengthen the School of Contemporary Chinese Studies, a commitment to the development of high quality interdisciplinary research and teaching programmes focusing on contemporary China is essential. Candidates must have a PhD, (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, a strong track record of excellent publications in high quality research monographs and articles in top ranked journals and a proven track record in obtaining external research funding. In addition, candidates should have significant research and field experience in China with a high level of proficiency in Mandarin Chinese, sufficient to undertake research and teaching utilising Chinese language materials and the ability to interact with colleagues in China.

Substantial teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate level is essential to support the expansion of the School's successful undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. Other duties include administrative tasks and contributing to the developmental activities of the School within the wider University community, especially with our campuses in China and Malaysia, including the possibility of domestic and overseas travel.
