Development Executive WAGGGS

Expiration Date

19 Jul 2012

Job Description

(Temporary until SEPTEMBER 2013)
Europe Office WAGGGS
Brussels, Belgium
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Europe Office WAGGGS for a Development Executive to support the work of the Region. This is a temporary position up until September 2013. Based in Brussels, but with extensive travel within Europe this offers an opportunity to be part of the changing support that the Region offers to its members to promote high quality Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting in Europe.
The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) is a worldwide Movement providing non-formal education where girls and young women develop leadership and life skills through self-development, challenge and adventure. The World Association brings together Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting Associations in 145 countries across the globe supporting 10 million girls and young women. The Europe Office WAGGGS is the secretariat of the Europe Region WAGGGS (www.europe.wagggsworld.org and www.wagggsworld.org)
You will be part of the Regional team reporting to the Regional Director, and working alongside the Europe Regional Committee.
To be successful you will need to be an astute individual who can build relationships and work closely with the individual associations, identifying their varying needs and providing the assistance they need – be it planning and staging events; delivering training in any or all of strategic priorities of WAGGGS – leadership, quality and advocacy; generating and preparing reports; working with and encouraging volunteers; managing any number of differing projects at one time and at a distance; whilst also finding opportunities for generating interest in and promoting WAGGGS to new members.
Ideally you will have experience of working in a culturally diverse environment, will have delivered training in the NGO world and can demonstrate a sound track record of effective project management.
You must have experience of working with volunteers, liaising with committees, strategic planning and have the ability to work both as part of a team and independently. It will be an added advantage if you are knowledgeable about advocacy work relating to the Millennium Development Goals. You will need to have a very good working knowledge of English and knowledge of at least one other modern European language.
Please send a curriculum vitae and covering letter specifying why you think you are suitable for the role. We’d prefer it to be via email to recruitment@wagggsworld.org but if you are unable to email it, you can post your application to:
