MSF Medical Representative in China

The international medical humanitarian organization Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is looking for suitable candidate for the following position based in Beijing:

MSF Medical Representative in China
Job Purpose
The job holder will represent MSF in medical fora in China in order to: facilitate exchange and dialogue between MSF and relevant stakeholders in China on medical priority issues for MSF; and, considering the country has become a global health actor, engage stakeholders in China on MSF medical concerns when deemed appropriate.
Principal Accountability
Engage with relevant stakeholders on medical priority issues for MSF, MSF’s vision, medical activities, dilemmas and challenges, and seek to influence Chinese policies and practices where appropriate;
Create opportunities for MSF to raise its visibility, credibility and acceptance in the Chinese health sector especially;
Be the medical focal point for the movement in China to develop and maintain a strategic and consistent relationship with key external actors and partners;
Act as an MSF spokesperson on medical issues in collaboration with and in support of MSF actors in China or those seeking to engage China on specific issues
Requirements

Academic Requirements
Medical doctor with training/experience in infectious disease.
Knowledge, Competence, Skills
& Experience Requirements
MSF field experience in at least two different contexts holding coordination position ideally with some of that time being spent in China.
Strong knowledge of public health and management of MSF medical humanitarian projects.
Strong knowledge on drug access issues and drug quality.
In-depth knowledge of China, and the medical humanitarian sector in China.
A demonstrated commitment to the Charter of MSF.
A commitment to building the vision and strategies of MSF’s medical humanitarian engagement with China.
Excellent spoken and written Chinese (Mandarin) highly preferable.
Other Qualifications Required
Patient and diplomatic negotiator, experienced in dealing with authorities.
Strategic vision.
Highly motivated with good initiative.
Ability to prioritize.
Strong communication skills.
Commitment of minimum 3 years is required.
