A fantastic opportunity to join the dynamic IAG Cargo Finance team.
NOTE: This is an IAG Cargo Ltd contract
The Commercial Finance Manager role allows you the opportunity to work closely with the IAG Cargo Sales Director to maximise the financial return for the group from the sale of Cargo in a fast moving dynamic market.
Ensuring revenue, commercial cost and manpower targets are delivered, through provision of financial information and recommendations.
The role enables close interaction with the overseas regions and the chance to travel. It also provides the individual with the accountability for enabling and embedding the provision of financial information for IAG Commercial Cargo, through integration of the BA, Iberia and bmi finance teams and processes.
The successful candidate will need strong business awareness, commercial accumen, communication and influencing skills. Customer focus and an enthusiastic approach will really make the successful candidate stand out.
Job Purpose
IAG Cargo is responsible for generating approx. €1.3bn of turnover per annum through Regional Sales and relationships with Global Key Accounts. The direct commercial costs which support delivery of this turnover are ~€50m which includes commissions and marketing investment. The indirect impact of commercial decisions on other more material cargo operating costs such as London operations & freighter are much more material.
The revenues and costs are across BA, IB & IAG ledgers. The Commercial Finance Manager is responsible for the provision of full business finance support, advice, information and challenge to the IAG Cargo Director of Sales, enabling the achievement of revenue / cost targets and informed business decisions – maximising margin for the group.
The role has 6 BA contracted finance analysts (4 based in LHR, 1 Madrid, 1 Hong Kong) and 2 IB contracted finance analysts as indirect reports. The role involves working closely with the Regional Commercial Managers, Freighter and Operational teams, Revenue Management, Procurement, Internal Audit and a variety of other Finance and business services colleagues across all parts of the IAG Group, not just limited to BA OpCo.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Directly manage a team of 6 finance analysts based in different geographical locations
  • Indirectly manage the IB finance support for Cargo sales
  • Identify, track and validate IAG synergy benefits
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for cost reduction and/or revenue improvement in a fast moving commercial environment
  • Present complex information in an accessible and meaningful way
  • Support business cases which facilitates key investment decisions and robust tracking to ensure project control and delivery
  • Prepare and track Business Plans, Financial Plans (includes budgeting, planning and forecasting) and Local Targets
  • Provide ‘well packaged’ comprehensive financial accounting, management accounting and reporting to the business, including balance sheets, manpower, capital, revenue and expenditure as well as financial analytics
  • Adhere to all corporate, statutory and regulatory requirements including BA Standing Instructions, BA Financial Standing Instructions, Financial Reporting Standards and International Accounting Standards
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements via automation and standardisation and support or manage the implementation of any changes
  • Work within and promote BA & IAG’s internal audit controls environment: implement control mechanisms, monitor, review and report against them and relevant statutory requirements. Ensure the efficient and effective implementation of appropriate actions and recommendations
  • Provide information, support and liaison where required to internal and external auditors

The Individual

  • Education to Degree level or equivalent experience
  • Professional finance qualification such as CIMA/ACCA/ACA or equivalent preferable
  • High motivation, objectivity and the ability to learn / develop
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills are essential
  • Ability to thrive in a cross-functional team environment lending finance expertise to diverse groups of non-finance composition
  • Ability to challenge decisions, whilst maintaining strong relationships and influence customers (GM and director level) to implement recommendations
  • A questioning and broad thinking approach is required with a strong orientation towards the provision of quality customer service to partners
