Legal Adviser EFRP - European Federation for Retirement Provision

The European Federation for Retirement Provision (EFRP), representing workplace pensions at EU level, is looking for a full-time legal adviser (m/f)to join its small team in Brussels.

The European Federation for Retirement Provision (EFRP) represents the various national associations of pension funds and similar institutions for workplace pension provision. It affiliates associations in 16 EU member states and 5 other European countries, totalling 22 Member Associations. The occupational pension plans of about 75 million EU citizens are covered by EFRP Members. Through its Member Associations, the EFRP represents €3.8 trillion in assets (2008), managed for future workplace pension payments.

The main tasks will be

  • Monitoring, analysing and advising on relevant legal developments affecting pensions at EU, transnational and national level, particularly in the following areas: financial regulation, taxation, activity of relevant committees and EU agencies (EIOPA, ESMA, EBA);
  • Providing responses to legislative proposals and consultations;
  • Communicating to Members on the latest EU legal developments (drafting of memos, position papers, letters, summarising documents);
  • Liaising with relevant representatives of EU institutions;
  • Contributing to the external communication materials (press releases, contents for conferences and events, newsletters);
  • Preparing reports and presentations;
  • Carrying out research in relevant areas;
  • Representing the EFRP externally.

Profile

  • A University (Master or higher) degree in law;
  • Relevant job experience, preferably including EU institutional environment;
  • Knowledge of EU supervisory mechanisms, EU financial regulation and taxation law;
  • Perfect command of written and spoken English;
  • Knowledge of a second EC working language (Dutch, French, German) is a plus;
  • Excellent computer skills;
  • Well-developed social, organisational and communication skills;
  • Dynamic and flexible personality;
  • Capacity to work independently and in a small team.

The legal adviser will report to the Secretary General/CEO.
