Mgr Payroll Accounting-Equity & Mobility

As part of the Global Business Services North America RFC organization, the Payroll Compliance team provides accounting support for Corporate, North America (legacy CCNA), and globally mobile associate payrolls, as well as global moving & relocation charges, delivered via third party vendors. The manager will lead payroll accounting and analysis activities for Equity, including stock option and PSU/RSU plans, and international assignment accounting support for globally mobile associates.

Responsibilities of the role include:


  • Subject Matter Expert for payroll and equity-related accounting guidance and support for Global Mobility, GBS HRO (Payroll Services and Global Equity), Corporate Tax, and Corporate Benefits Accounting, in addition to finance and human resources managers in consolidated affiliate locations.

  • Identify, document, and communicate the relevant business processes needed to support new Corporate Clearinghouse Accounting for Stock Options and Performance Share Unit plans. Develop and/or improve standardized templates and information processes to promote data reporting consistency.

  • Create and update payroll accounting-related policies (Standard Practices and Procedures, Corporate Accountant-in-Charge memorandums), practices, processes. Leverage existing technology to communicate with Finance and other key stakeholders to deliver relevant, up-to-date content.

  • Respond to questions pertaining to equity-related payroll transactions and policies and procedures (e.g., taxation of options) for global HR/Finance partners, vendors, and associates. Identify and facilitate resolution of outstanding financial and operational issues or inquiries with the appropriate Corporate or GBS functions.

  • Review and analyze balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure transactions are recorded accurately and account balances are accurately stated in accordance with GAAP and Company policy. Research and resolve any issues identified.

  • Facilitate meetings to gain input from multiple perspectives, build engagement, and test deliverables for various equity/mobility/payroll solutions (i.e., processes, plans, programs, training, systems, and tools).

  • Identify system requirements and/or enhancements needed to support the successful design, development and implementation of plans, programs, processes, and tools in collaboration with Information Systems, Global Mobility, and GBS HRO partners.

  • Manage a project against a plan and objectives to ensure commitments are met by monitoring, assessing, and resolving variances in timing or quality of work.

  • Review and approve recommended course of action to resolve a non-routine financial/accounting problem, issue, or transaction.

  • Develop and promote internal controls, standards and processes to ensure accuracy and consistency in data used for decision-making, internal/external reporting and communications.

  • Contact vendors with day-to-day data corrections, plan/program changes, in order to resolve issues impacting employees, the Company, and outside vendors.

  • Support internal clients with information/analysis.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Accounting background, including US GAAP knowledge, mandatory.

  • Financial analysis experience mandatory.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to draw conclusions from complex data.

  • Demonstrated project management experience.

  • Strong, concise oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.

  • Able to lead and influence cross-functional teams.

  • Can provide coaching and feedback to team members to guide and enhance progress against controllership and targeted performance measures.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Education Bachelor's Degree required. CPA/MBA preferred.

Related Work Experience 7 - 10 years accounting experience required, including analytical and project management experience in a cross-functional business environment.

Preferred Payroll, Equity, or Global Mobility Accounting experience. Six Sigma, Lean, or Operation Excellence background.
