The School of Engineering & Built Environment wishes to appoint Professors in the Department of Construction and Surveying. This Department is highly respected for research, teaching and knowledge transfer and is seeking applicants with priority given to the following disciplines:

  • Fire Safety Design and Regulation
  • Building Information Modelling (BIM)
  • Quantity Surveying,
  • Risk and Safety Management
  • Low Carbon Construction

We are looking for inspirational leaders, recognised as leading experts of national/international standing in their chosen subject field to support the SEBE strategy going forward.

Successful candidates will have a track record of successful management of project/resources and people and be able to demonstrate their ability to generate income as appropriate to the discipline and activities engaged in.

Further essential criteria include the ability to demonstrate interdisciplinary interaction and networking with a range of key figures both nationally and internationally. Applicants will have a PhD in a relevant subject area and evidence continuing engagement in personal CPD.

Recruitment Process

We welcome informal enquiries and visits as well as the more formal processes for those who are invited for interview. We aim to make the experience one from which we can mutually learn and develop.

Those invited to interview will meet key staff in learning and research, the relevant Head of Department and the Executive Dean or Vice Dean to find out more about the school.

The interview will also involve:

  • 45 - 50 minute seminar and undertake discussions with key staff prior to interview
  • a visit to the school's facilities, where practical, and will include a tour and an opportunity to meet the department
  • a Panel interview, Chaired by the Principal
