PROGRAM ASSOCIATE, REPRESENTATIVE WASHINGTON DC

Position: Program Associate, Representative Washington DC

Location: Washington DC

Basic Purpose and Function

The Washington Associate will drive Advocacy and Branding of awareness of EWI’s programs and policy innovations with the DC community to increase awareness and building relationships with US and other Nations and policy makers. The Washington Associate advocates the EWI Brand and communicates to DC community support and interest in EWI’s work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Transform EWI’s Washington branding, advocacy and awareness efforts from ad hoc and sporadic to planned and constant by reaching out to existing and key new constituents who are needed to advance the EWI Mission and Impact of the specific initiatives and projects.

  • Play an aggressive role in advocating for EWI in DC the capacities that promote EWI’s policy work and institutional impact with important constituencies, (legislative and executive branches, corporations, foundations, NGOs, embassies and other partners including funders when requested by Development or President).
  • Create and maintain an early warning system including monitoring best practice and achievements of other competitor institutions and identifying talent and thought leaders for EWI to engage.
  • Communicate EWI’s policy positions with proficiency and ease. Manage to the goal of facilitating EWI policy impact in DC.
  • Actively assist EWI Lead Team and Programmatic staff become more effective in the DC visits and to help ensure prompt and relevant follow up from EWI.
  • Help streamline and focus the EWI message and branding using activities, such as upcoming hearings or events that can be used to draw serious attention to EWI’s work.
  • Identify and facilitate the participation of key participants in and support of EWI DC program sponsored events, collaborating with EWI Events and Programs teams.
  • Mobilize and energize the EWI Alumni Community.
  • Special Projects as assigned.


Qualifications


Qualifications:

  • Experience in US Government and international Policy advocacy and branding
  • A Masters Degree in International Policy or related field and 3 – 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Strong English writing and editing skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Strong persuasion skills and ability to gain credibility with key individuals
  • Ability to think creatively and identify awareness opportunities
