Senior Education Officer (Non Formal Education)

Reports to: Principal Education Officer (Inclusive Education)

Purpose of the Job

To provide technical support and guidance on issues affecting inclusive Education in the education sector.

Qualifications and Work Experience

  • An Honours’ Degree in Education and Training or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
  • A postgraduate qualification Training in Education Psychology or Sociology and social Work;
  • 4 years work experience, 2 of which should have been at a level of officer level in a recognized or reputable teaching or education Institution;

Having an experience of 2 years in the teaching profession serving learners experiencing barriers to education will be an added advantage;

Main Duties/Responsibilities

  • Participate in the implementation of Non Formal Education especially for children experiencing trauma;
  • Provide advice on policy formulation in the education of learners in the conflict;
  • Monitor implementation of policy in children in conflict areas;
  • Advise districts on resource requirements for provision in the conflict areas;
  • Prepare and submit reports on Education in conflict and refuge areas;
  • Advise on organisation, management and curriculum in context of Non Formal Education (Complementary Opportunity for Primary Education (COPE);
  • Participate in the training of teachers and resource persons on the implementation of Non Formal Education (Complementary Opportunity for Primary Education

(COPE);

  • Supervise and appraise Education officer Non formal Education.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the relevant authority.
