Department

The Media Planning department is responsible for applying the principles of media planning, marketing and advertising and using all available audience data to create the most audience focused promotions schedule.

Role

You will be responsible for the scheduling and optimising of BBC promotional media content across Television, Radio and/or Online/iPlayer and for achieving campaign and cross-promotion targets.
 
You will support the Media Schedulers in identifying tactical cross promotion opportunities to navigate viewers/listeners to other BBC services/events, and in the management of reactive and tactical issues to ensure a consistent approach with the promotional content of junctions. You will also support the Media Schedulers to ensure that schedule works to time and meets all the requirements of transmission.
 
You will be required to extract, analyse and apply media research to provide audience focus to the whole scheduling process and to provide research data and analysis to support Media Planning to predict future audience levels, enabling optimal use of promotional airtime.

Requirements

You will bring an understanding of the editorial and transmission requirements of a broadcast or media schedule, alongside an appreciation of scheduling and creative media solutions.

You will have an informed interest in developments in audience research techniques and systems, accompanied by an understanding of media research and marketing within a broadcast environment.
 
An interest in and knowledge of television/radio/digital output and the BBC is key, as is the ability to analyse viewing data and write reports.
