Description: The Department of Physical Education and Recreation Studies invites applications for a tenurable limited-term faculty position in the disciplines of physical education, kinesiology, exercise science, sport management and/or leadership, ecotourism and/or outdoor leadership. The position will commence August 15, 2013, for a twelve month term ending August 14, 2014, subject to budgetary approval. Priority will be given to entry level candidates.

Duties: The Department currently has four (4) programs: Athletic Therapy, Applied Business and Entrepreneurship – Sport and Recreation, Ecotourism and Outdoor Leadership (ETOL), and Physical Education University Transfer. The successful applicant will be responsible to teach courses across the curricula in the department. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in physical education pedagogy. A complementary background in Ecotourism and Outdoor Leadership and/or Sport and Recreation Management would also be beneficial.

New faculty are hired into one of two work patterns. The teaching/scholarship/service pattern has a focus on teaching with the requirements that the faculty member be involved in a research program as well as service to the Mount Royal community. The teaching/service pattern has a focus on teaching and service only.

Qualifications: Qualifications include a completed or near-completion PhD and relevant undergraduate teaching experience. In addition, it would be an asset to have K-12 teaching experience in physical education, outdoor education/leadership and/or recreation management.
