One particular area of TEP’s expertise is the evaluation of the design, implementation and outcomes ofinformation and communication (I&C) strategies and campaigns. We develop bespoke methodologies to evaluate I&C outputs and outcomes against their objectives. Increasingly, we also help our clients by developing and testing ideas, concepts and strategies for I&C campaigns, tools or activities. Typical assignments include assessments of awareness-raising campaigns, promotion and advertising activities, action programmes and specific channels and tools including target group segmentation and selection, publications, social media, websites, high profile events, etc.

The position

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, communication savvy individual to contribute specifically to the design and delivery of evaluations of information and communication (I&C) campaigns, tools and activities, mostly for the European Commission. A positive ‘can-do’ attitude, an analytical mind, and an eye for detail are required. You will work closely with Senior Consultants within our I&C evaluation team.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Working on a portfolio of evaluations of public sector I&C activities;
  • Analysis of communication challenges and problems faced by clients and identification of possible solutions;
  • Setting communication KPIs and planning the collection of data for their measurement;
  • Data gathering activities including the design and implementation of on-line surveys, interviews and focus groups to test awareness, perceptions and opinions on the communication activities under assessment;
  • Analysis of research and evaluation findings and development of conclusions and recommendations to improve future communication activities;
  • Drafting sections of client progress reports within deadlines set and managing project budgets;
  • Preparation and delivery of presentations to internal and external clients;
  • Managing the project contributions of other colleagues, subcontractors and experts and establishing good client relationships;
  • Helping to grow our business by contributing to the preparation of tenders, and identifying and pursuing opportunities in new and existing markets;
  • Contributing to the administration and management of evaluation contracts, including framework contracts.

What we are looking for

The successful candidate will have at least three years of relevant work experience, and demonstrate the following key skills and attributes:
Essential attributes
  • Strong writing and analytical skills, which should be backed up by examples;
  • Experience of research (ideally evaluation, but other fields – such as market research or social research in general – can also be relevant);
  • Work experience in an I&C setting (e.g. communications agency or department);
  • Understanding of how to design and implement communication campaigns;
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, when required;
  • A self starter with ability to work independently and as part of a team, when required;
  • A university degree (ideally a Masters), preferably in a related communications, marketing or creative field;
  • Excellent command of the English language (at or near native level).
Desirable attributes
  • Experience in specific communication fields, for example public relations, social media, website design, event management, etc.;
  • A strong interest in, as well as knowledge about, the European Commission and other European institutions;
  • An understanding of the main approaches, methods and tools to evaluate public sector interventions in general, and communication activities in particular;
  • Experience of working in an international setting;
  • Client and project management experience;
  • Fluency in other European languages.

What we can offer you

Depending on skills and previous experience, successful candidates will be offered a role as either a Consultant or a Junior Consultant in TEP’s EU team. Both roles provide the opportunity to further develop both your evaluation and project management skills within a team of like-minded professionals. The position being offered is a full-time permanent post based in TEP’s offices in central London. The role will involve international travel.
