The Organisation
QGC is a leading Australian coal seam gas explorer and producer focused on supplying cleaner hydrocarbon energy to growing domestic and international markets.

We are establishing Queensland Curtis LNG, a world-first project to turn reserves of natural coal seam gas in the Surat and Bowen basins in Queensland into liquefied natural gas (LNG) – a carbon efficient fuel.

QGC, which is wholly owned by the British energy company BG Group, employs more than 4,300 staff and contractors. 
Position Summary
The position coordinates and leads the Cultural Heritage management process at field level for all QGC/QCLNG gas tenements in a manner that ensures such activities can proceed without delay.
Key Accountabilities
Position Specific• Leads the field based Cultural Heritage management process in QGC’s existing and future gas fields development
• Provides oversight on all aspects of field based cultural heritage management
• Manages both staff and a team of contractors to deliver on agreed cultural heritage management strategies as well as to provide strategic advice on issues and implementation
• Contributes to the establishment and maintenance of relationships with indigenous stakeholders, including traditional owners in consultation with the Indigenous Relations Manager
• Manages consultation databases ensuring queries are updated in a timely manner
• Contributes to the building of QGC’s profile in the area of Indigenous Relations
• Develops appropriate operational procedures and good practice documents consistent with the BG group Social Performance standards and taking into account Australia specific Indigenous Relations issues
• Supports other members of the QCLNG project team as required
• Takes on new tasks and responsibilities as the role requires

People Management• Leads and coordinates a team of Cultural Heritage Officers, Coordinators and Cultural Heritage Field Officers spread across a diverse geography
• The incumbent must abide by company policy in relation to HR policies and procedures such as annual HR cycle and meet deadlines within the appropriate timeframes

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Experience Needed
• Demonstrated experience in managing indigenous Cultural Heritage processes, preferably within a major project or resource industry context
• A high level of understanding of both native title and cultural heritage legislation, with particular reference to how this applies to the project
• Sound understanding and support for the role of community relations in an industrial context
• Experience managing administration activities associated with cultural heritage coordination
• Understanding of accounts payable and other administrative processes within a large corporate environment
 
Knowledge, Skills and Attributes• Highly developed leadership qualities with proven ability to motivate and mentor
• Demonstrated experience in coordinating a team that are field based in multiple locations
• Advanced communication skills (oral and written) with the ability to both peer assist and challenge others in a constructive way
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Strong history in indigenous relations, particularly in Queensland
• A high level of understanding of both native title and cultural heritage legislation
• Effective team player with a pro-active and flexible attitude
 
Special Features
• Availability as required for weekends
• Regular travel required between sites
• Occasional travel to Brisbane for meetings as required
