This will deliver a more sustainable future and robust business proposition for Offshore Europe, as well as enhanced development opportunities for individuals across the combined teams. With a joint portfolio producing over 100 kboe/ day, our goal is to continue building a truly excellent Exploration and Production business in Offshore Europe (OE).
Position Summary
Offshore Europe (OE) is committed to providing a discrete Materials Management function that will support the work of the operational teams and ensure the accuracy, security and integrity of materials supply to the asset’s operations.

The OE Materials Manager is responsible for all materials management (MM) related activity in the OE asset. This will include the creation of an MM organisation that will play a critical role in the future development of MM in the asset. The OE Materials Manager will work closely with the operations line managers to develop a first class materials supply operation that utilises the BG Group MM Core Processes as its foundation. Improvements in MM capability will complement the GWMS systems functionality recently installed across the 3 operating platforms.
 
The position will report directly to the C&P / Supply Chain Manager, Offshore Europe.

Peers include, Logistics Manager / Maintenance Manager for the asset.

Direct Reports are the Master Data Manager, PSBS Warehouse Contract/Materials Controllers.
Key Accountabilities
Every individual has a duty to both themselves and those around them to ensure that safe practice is adhered to at all times. In addition to any specific accountability for HSSE, all managers are accountable for HSSE within their area of the Business and are responsible for ensuring that their team adopt exemplary HSSE behaviours.

Develop an OE Materials Management Strategy and Resource Plan that is consistent with the BG Group MM Strategy.

Key accountabilities are:

- Implement BG Group Core Processes and associated Local Operating Procedures to standardise and control the movement of materials at every stage in the supply chain.
- Develop good working relationships with key stakeholders to help drive a standardised approach to materials management.
- Recruit and develop a Materials Management organisation.
- Lead and direct the work of the Materials Management team.
- Provide appropriate training and coaching to ensure the MM team is fully skilled to carry out its remit both safely and efficiently.
- Ensure that there is proper continuity planning for recruitment and organisational change.
- Set clear performance and delivery targets for the MM team and drive continuous improvement through management of key performance indicators.
- Prepare annual plans and budgets.
- Work with the operational teams (production/maintenance/shutdown) to develop robust materials supply routines that are specifically designed to meet the individual needs of each asset or function.
- Take responsibility for improving the control of inventory offshore by working with the OIM’s to develop a culture of care for materials on each platform.
- Provide functional direction to the platform Materials Controllers and provide guidance through coaching and training.
- Manage the receipt, verification and assembly of materials for despatch offshore.
- Work with the Logistics team to develop a seamless and coordinated operation for the collation and delivery of materials for despatch offshore.
- Provide support to the C&P team to ensure materials are available from suppliers on a timely basis.
- Work with C&P to help establish robust contractual agreements with suppliers that clearly define BG’s requirements for efficient materials management.
- Play an integral part in the development of the IAP and utilise the demand plan created by the maintenance function to develop a materials supply strategy for each asset.
- Manage inventory audits and cyclical stock counts ensuring that segregation of duty rules are followed. Reconcile all resulting discrepancies.
- Manage the end-to-end disposals cycle including managing third parties engaged in these activities.
- Act as the Demand Manager for all MM related contracts. 
- Work with the warehouse operator to optimise the design and layout of warehouse and yard areas for most efficient and effective storage, handling and flow of materials.
- Support the work of the maintenance team in developing the asset repairs and spares strategies, including the identification of critical spares.
- Develop and agree an asset materials supply strategy that supports the repairs and maintenance strategy.
- Ensure the creation of clean material master data at the asset level that is consistent with the Global standard covering all defined materials and associated BOM, to support the WMS . 
Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
- Educated to degree level or equivalent preferred.
- An experienced Oil and Gas materials manager.
- Proven experience of successfully managing an operations team.
- Experience of using Maximo/SAP or similar MRP systems.
- A good understanding and working knowledge of supply chain systems and processes.
- A good understanding of materials master data management.
- Strong motivator with skill in developing and adhering to process.
- Proven development and coaching skills. Able to motivate and develop teams of personnel with different experience sets to ensure people and the asset reach their potential. Skilled in engaging and facilitating others to think and plan new action.
- Ability to work and deliver to tight deadlines under pressure when necessary.
- Strong prioritisation skills and able to manage a demanding workscope.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively engage with various groups internally and externally.
- Ability to work with and gain the confidence and respect of senior management within BG, and with key customers in the asset.
