Senior Technical Lead Advisor

MCHIP, the largest maternal, newborn and child (MNCH) health procurement in USAID history, is a five-year $600 million Leader with Associates Cooperative Agreement aiming to accelerate the reduction of maternal, newborn and child mortality in 30 priority countries through the introduction, development and scale-up of high-impact maternal, newborn and child health interventions—including malaria
prevention and treatment.

Jhpiego seeks a Senior Technical Lead Advisor for an MCHIP maternal, newborn, and child health services project in Pakistan. The Senior Technical Lead Advisor is responsible for providing technical leadership on key result areas of the project. S/he should be knowledgeable about the service delivery and training aspects of all reproductive health, family planning (FP), and MNCH services, as well as key Pakistani health strategies. S/he will serve as the primary mentor for the Pakistani technical team focused on improving MNCH services.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee technical input for project activities related to FP and MNCH
  • Provide leadership, management, and technical support in the development and use of policies and technical guidelines related to the comprehensive strategy for improving quality and access to MNCH services
  • Work closely with partners to plan project activities and respond to requests for support from provincial governments, local counterparts and USAID
  • Contribute to increasing depth and strength of technical capacity in areas of FP and MNCH program design and implementation, including conducting program      assessment, clinical training and mentoring, and service delivery, as required
  • Support QA activities through performance improvement and training to include on  the job training, coaching and standardization of practice
  • Draft, edit and proofread technical materials and reports of project activities and results to the program and donor, including progress and annual reports
  • Work with project and financial staff to prepare and track progress of activity budgets
  • Maintain productive and consistent communication with program and technical staff
  • Ensure compliance with USAID operational policies and regulations
  • Assist in contributing to reporting requirements of the program
Required Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in medicine, midwifery, nursing, public health, or other relevant field
  • 10 years’ experience in primary care
  • Demonstrated experience in specific clinical and non‐clinical service delivery in FP and MNCH as well as quality improvement
  • 7+ years’ experience designing, implementing, monitoring or evaluating programs related to MNCH, FP, nutrition, and/or water/sanitation
  • Demonstrated experience working with host country government counterparts, policy makers, and a broad array of health service providers and community leaders and public-private partnerships
  • Demonstrated experience providing technical advice to government officials and mentoring health service providers
  • Proficiency in word processing and Microsoft Office software
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Urdu
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Pakistani nationals strongly encouraged to apply
