The Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue Monitoring & Evaluation Manager


The Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (the HD Centre) is an independent organisation based in Geneva dedicated to improving the prevention of, and response to, armed conflict. It attempts to achieve this by mediating between warring parties and providing support to the broader mediation community.

The HD Centre is currently looking for a

Monitoring & Evaluation Manager

Reporting to the Director of the Policy and Mediation Support Programme of the HD Centre, his/her responsibilities will include:

In close collaboration with the Regional Directors, serve as a focal point for the HD Centre’s monitoring and evaluation cycle.

Review the HD Centre’s monitoring and evaluation (M&E) methodology, and develop proposals on how to strengthen it.

Develop a set of indicators on project impact, which are appropriate for the mediation field and the HD Centre’s work.

Co-ordinate monitoring of the implementation of the HD Centre’s Strategic Framework.

Serve as a focal point for the HD Centre’s risk management process and ensure that risks are properly identified and monitored, and that mitigation plans are in place.

Contribute substantive and other support to the HD Centre’s mediation projects.

Participate in policy discussions through publications, participation in seminars and conferences, and liaise with relevant mediation actors as well as M&E experts.

Qualifications: The successful candidate should have a strong background in monitoring and evaluation processes, strategy development and risk management in the non-governmental sector. S/he should hold an advanced university degree, including studies in international relations, and have at least seven years of work experience in an international environment. S/he must have experience in project development and management, as well as, ideally field experience in peacebuilding, political affairs or mediation.

Personality: The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, a natural ability to influence and convince, as well as experience in public speaking and representation. S/he should also demonstrate a record of initiative and creativity as well as confidence in dealing with senior practitioners. S/he should be flexible, able to work under time constraints and to manage multiple projects at a time. Knowledge of French would be an asset.
