WaterAid has operated in India since 1993 to help realise its vision of a world where everyone has access to safe water and sanitation. Now a nationally recognised leader in the water and sanitation sector spanning 10 states, the growth in our work in India has presented an excellent opportunity to develop WaterAid India as an independent entity, "Jal Seva Charitable Foundation".
We are now seeking an exceptional Chief Executive who will be responsible for leading this transformation into independence and WaterAid's first ever member organisation evolved from a country programme. A pioneering role with the ability to improve so many lives, the Chief Executive will develop an inspiring and ambitious strategy and road map for successful and sustainable programme work and ensure Jal Seva Charitable Foundation takes the role of an influential leader in this sector. With an annual operating budget of approximately Rs 270 million in 2012-13, leading a team of around 50 staff and working with a number of partner organisations, you will provide leadership and direction to create a entrepreneurial, creative and collaborative culture, driving high performance and engagement.
The Role: 
  • takes the strategic lead in developing and implementing the new entity
  • provides inspirational leadership to the team and partner organisations to maximise the impact WaterAid can make in India and globally
  • builds the capacity of the organisation, securing diverse income streams, managing budgets and general financial health of the new entity
The Candidate:
  • an outstanding individual with a track record of leading and developing teams and managing organisational change
  • a clear understanding of policy and programme development and an appreciation of the political, social, cultural and economic forces in India
  • excellent communicator with the interpersonal skills to forge effective partnerships and alliances and act as an advocate and ambassador for WaterAid and Jal Seva Charitable Foundation
