The Assistant Producer will travel with the Queen’s Baton during the international section of the relay, spanning a number of months. They will be joined by a Presenter & Shoot/Edit, forming a three person team. We are looking for an experienced Assistant Producer to initiate, direct, self-shoot, edit and feed coverage of the international journey. This content will be produced for inclusion across a number BBC platforms and outlets.

Role

The main focus of the Assistant Producer / Sound role is to routinely assist in the shooting, audio recording and editing of complete film packages, or equivalent, sometimes at short notice and often to tight deadlines.   This role will also assist in the delivery of live inserts into flagship BBC Nations & Regions and Network programming.   The role will demand strong editorial knowledge and a well-developed understanding of craft and technical tasks. Our content will span BBC TV, Radio and Online. Our content will be delivered to News, Factual & Children’s programmes.

Requirements

You will have a high standard of editorial judgement, writing ability and production skills based on experience, a willingness to work abroad for an extended period of time, sometimes during unsociable hours and demonstrable knowledge of BBC output and that of its competitors. Strong communication skills with the ability to convey creative ideas and technical information clearly and persuasively is also required. You’ll ideally have experience of using sound recording equipment and of self-shooting. Knowledge and hands-on expertise of using craft editing tools such as Avid Media Composer is desirable.
