As well as Something Special, our most popular shows include In the Night Garden, I Can Cook and Waybuloo. New shows include Old Jack’s Boat andTree Fu Tom. The CBeebies website is also hugely popular with our young audience and their parents and helps extend the ‘learning through play’ philosophy.

Role

As a strong and resilient single camera director, you will write and direct factual films with Justin Fletcher and contributors with Special Needs. You will work with the Producer to develop ideas and deliver editorially strong treatments and scripts and drive content visually, both in terms of style and structure, whilst encouraging innovation and high professional standards. You will be able to plan and organise yourself and others, taking into account all relevant issues and factors so that projects and work are completed in an efficient and timely way.

Requirements

 You’ll have previous Assistant Producer credits with experience of writing and directing single camera location films, as well as a track record of producing creative, visually interesting and innovative content. You’ll also have a proven record in producing / managing & creating ideas. You’ll have extensive knowledge of the BBC Children’s department and output and a thorough knowledge and understanding of the children’s audience. You’ll need to have previous management experience as well as experience of working alone and working as part of a larger team
